A frosty swim on Christmas Eve
It was cold and frosty. I struggled to open the car doors as I defrosted the car before heading off to Bassenthwaite to meet 3 friends for a Christmas Eve swim. I found myself getting surprisingly excited as I got nearer.
There was snow on Skiddaw top and one or two small groups of swimmers some in skins and some with wetsuits by the lakeside. Everyone was in good spirits.
I met another Canon man. He wasn't swimming. We chatted briefly and he asked politely if we wouldn't mind him taking a few shots. No one minded and off we went. He did email 3 shots of us in the water but I didn't feel I could show them on blip. He's called David Cross.
The post swim crack was good. Clare had brought some sweet treats for us. Main shot, my friends posing with their swimming medals. The extra is from another swimmer with a go pro. It's amazing who you meet in the middle of a lake.
Clearly full of energy (me), Tom and I had a sunny walk across the ridge.
I'm taking mum for another hospital appointment this afternoon before a final supermarket dash round Sainsbury's.
I'm planning on having a prosecco or two when I get home, that's if I haven't konked out before. Happy Christmas Eve all.
