If you need to travel outside of Gaza City, you can take a public taxi or a 'servis'. This is the rank near Shifa hospital. The drivers hang around on the street, calling out their intended destination. You have to wait until the car is full before the car will leave.

It's a relatively cheap way to travel, and your travelling companions are often rather interesting! It's generally quite a novelty for them to have an 'ajnabiyye' (foreigner) in the car, and you can find yourself answering a lot of questions during the journey.
