Outdoor dining

Under the current pandemic restrictions, the only way that we can meet Paddy and Caitlin is outdoors. So tonight, for our Christmas Eve supper, Mr hazelh rigged up an open 'tent' in our yarden. Under this we enjoyed curry and crumble with mulled wine, Prosecco, and beer. We all wore just about all the clothes that we own and we didn't feel cold at all!

Earlier in the day, Mr hazelh and took a lovely long walk along the Water of Leith in the sunshine. We bumped into my work pal Elena. She has recently been appointed to a Chair in Dublin, but continues to work remotely from Edinburgh.

Otherwise it's been a day of prep for the main event tomorrow. Shouting up the chimney with my family scattered across the UK (practised by some, but not others, as I have recently discovered) comes next.

Exercise today: walking (c 12,000 steps).
