One of my favourite books as a child, it wove stories round the interactions of a wide variety of nursery rhyme characters, eg Red Riding Hood, Puck, Dr Foster. Not all of them behaved well, people got fed up with wee Willie Winkie running through the town shouting, Diddle Dumpty ended up in the well, there was quite a lot of truancy.
