Burnished

Another good day. Chatted to K on the phone...in our beds with cups of tea...we never quite got round to doing the crossword though. Jumped out of bed to head out to the Botanics for my booked slot there. Lovely walk across town in bright cold sunshine...gorgeous weather that I can feel lifting my spirits.
Had a lovely wander...the bare trees carving out beautiful shapes against the blue sky. Loved the bark peeling on this tree that caught the strong sunshine.
Walked back a different route and through town to M&S food hall for a couple of things before home. Made some more florentines and finished watching last night’s film whilst they set, then popped over to deliver them to C and to P. Nice long doorstep chats to them both.
Glimpsed a beautiful sunset and I should have walked up Calton Hill to see it in its splendour but didn’t realise just how amazingly it would turn out and headed home to listen to the lessons and carols from Kings. Took me straight back to all the Christmas Eve’s I’ve been baking as I listened to that, and lovely to hear S’s voice (and see him later on the TV version of the programme).
Chatted to T cooking his ham and to A making her red cabbage...both wanting step by step instructions as they cooked, then to Mt&H and the kids as they had supper and talked about Santa starting his journey as they prepared his milk and carrots and mince pie to leave on the fireplace.
Watched a Christmas movie and chilled out for a while then had fish pie for supper and some more TV. Avoided the news all day....couldn’t bear what I imagine would be the crowing and bluster of you know who claiming victory with his deal.
