Ain Dubai

Thursday, Christmas Eve
This is so not the image I wanted to post for Christmas Eve, but whilst waiting for G to have a meet up with the kids she teaches in Geneva (they are here for Christmas), I took the opportunity to drive to Bluewaters Island and check it out.
As you can see, we have our own version of the London Eye called Dubai Eye, or Ain Dubai translated into Arabic. It's been up for quite a while but as I noted today from seeing it close up, it is far from ready to have visitors. I am disappointed that this is not located in "old" Dubai which has more interesting views of the city. Where it is situated shows off Dubai's industrial prowess and the changes of the last fifteen years. I won't be racing to have a ride when it opens.
It was time to pick G up again and the first thing she said when she got in the car was "let's check out the giant wheel". I said I'd just come from there and it was a trip for another day!
We went to Dubai Mall... mainly to shop at M&S for veg. G didn't find everything she needed, so it was another trip out to Festival City later in the afternoon and a quite stop at Wafi as well. No wasting time or hanging around as we wanted to be back home before 7 for T@3. Another fun meeting - we had a quiz and Secret Santa.
Another full day, over so quickly and it is Christmas tomorrow! Yikes! G did some prep for lunch. It's funny not to think about getting to a midnight service. It would be so easy since we're in a warm place.
