Early start to make the not-Christmas cake (gingerbread ring since no-one really likes fruit cake except me) and round one of the mince pies.
Once the gang were all up, port was poured and the present opening began.
CarbBoy’s gift from us (and for some birthdays and Christmases to come) was parts to build a gaming pc with - here the SSD is being eased into place. He just set off and plugged things in where they appeared to fit and, in only a few hours, it was all assembled.
In a sign of our family’s optimistic outlook, we were genuinely surprised when it didn’t work. After all, the parts had been chosen by someone who had to look up what GPU meant, and put together by someone who hadn’t even taken the time to watch a YouTube video.
So, ignoring that, we watched too much Modern Family and a series of daft things from the 80s (including Allo Allo in my continued attempts to make the kids learn how to speak English with a French accent in case of a hostage situation - long standing family trope which I will explain some day).
A very easy relaxed day of cheese and Quality Street. Hope everyone who cares about the day had the best Christmas they could.
I have an augur drill bit, so I now officially have everything a person could need. And cheese.
