Tickled Pink

We had a lovely playdate with Eva, Leo and Emma at the Gallery of Modern Art. We thought we'd kill two birds with one stone - give our children a bit of culture and let them run free in the gardens. Things didn't go quite as planned, however, as the exhibition was 'From death to death and other stories' which included some rather odd installations and a few rooms that were unsuitable for children. There was an early toilet stop which led us to the cafe and an early tea break. The kids were in hyper mode, making it all but impossible to relax so we drank fast and headed for the gardens. Miss A and Little D climbed through the fence into the Landform area with the pond at the front of the gallery, making a run for it with me in close pursuit and one of the staff asking Emma if we knew the area was off-limits to the public. Erm, yes I know that...try telling that to the kids though!

The most fun was had with the kids jumping off the stairs at the front of Gallery No 2. There was laughter, tears, scraped knees, hurt bottoms etc but they kept going back for more so clearly weren't too scarred by it all. After another escape attempt by Miss A and Little D we decided to head home, all a little exhausted.

A quick pit stop back at the house and bags packed we then headed through to Glasgow for a sleepover at Aunty Sandra's house and a family 21st birthday party in the evening. It was lovely seeing my dad's side of the family, who I haven't seen in some time. The kids were having a brilliant time and could not be peeled off the dance floor - Miss A was especially delighted when Gangnam Style came on and the 'big girls' got up to dance with her. The only slightly embarrasing part of the evening was that there were no under 18's allowed after 10pm (which we didn't know) and they stopped serving alcohol and stopped the music until we left. We had to make our apologies and run for it - probably not fast enough for the thirstier of the party-goers - we had fun though!

Happy Birthday Geraldine! x
