Edinburgh from the barrel of a gun...
Well, a canon, but you know, close enough...
This morning I got up at 4.30, and it seems like a lifetime ago! and got ready to leave the house just after 5. My Dad dropped me off at the Europa, picking Becca up on the way, where we met the coach and the rest of the people going on the trip. We headed to Larne and got the 7.30 ferry, arrived in Scotland just before 10. We drove for a bit, stopping off for a tea break/time to stretch our legs, before carrying on to Edinburgh. We got to our hotel just after 1, checked in immediately and chilled out for a bit, before getting a bus into the city centre.
Once we were in the centre, we went for a walk to the end of Princes Street, then headed towards the Royal Mile, where we went for a dander in the direction of the Castle, stopping off to visit The Elephant House, for some hot chocolate (we're both big Harry Potter fans) and Greyfriar's Bobby's statue and grave, before heading back to the Royal Mile, to visit the Castle. We spent some time walking around the Castle, taking it all in. The views are spectacular and the Scottish Crown Jewels are beautiful. Lots of pics were taken, but I liked this one best.
We took another dander down the Royal Mile and back down Princes St (where I shopped for a swimming costume, as we wanna just the hotel pool), before heading back in the direction of the hotel for dinner. We had Toby's Carvery, which was awesome! Then headed back to the hotel to chill out, before our friend Ruth came to visit. Ruth's a school friend, who's studying medicine in the city, so it was lovely to catch up with her over a glass of wine.
Now we're in the hotel, ready for a well earned sleep, ahead of the rugby match tomorrow. C'mon Ireland..? ;)
