Pub no longer

This pretty cottage is near the middle of our village, so familiar that we don’t really notice it. It was originally a pub called The Saracen and Ring, but in 1895 the ardent local temperance worker, Mrs Christie, bought it up and turned it into a private residence.
I passed it on my afternoon walk. It was a lovely bright sunny day but it was cold, and I didn’t stay out for very long. I came home and instead enjoyed The Sound of Music on tv.
