Common Redpoll
Yay, this is a new bird I can add to my life list. Saw it for the very first time today and it's quite striking.
"One of the 'winter finches,' nesting in the Arctic and sometimes invading the northern states. Redpolls are tiny, restless birds, feeding actively on seeds among trees and weeds. The oldest known Common Redpoll was at least 7 years, 10 months old. It was injured when caught by a cat. Happily, it survived its injuries."
