The golden beach

The weather today was more or less what was forecast - a little rain earlier, sunshine at lunchtime and cloudy thereafter. More or less correct, except for the sunshine at lunchtime!

We drove down to the Isle of Seil, a short journey down the coast for us, and had a wander along the beach and a picnic lunch in the car. The beaches around the islands here - the Slate Islands - are mostly made up of debris from the former slate mines. The slate here is full of golden crystals of iron pyrites, the so-called Fool's Gold, as in my extra today.

Limerick of the Day:

A housewife from Ebbesborne Wake
Won a prize with her raspberry cake.
When asked by the judge
Why it tasted of fudge
She admitted she’d made a mistake!
