Morning walk at Fernald Preserve
Sunday
Our streamed morning service this morning was shorter than usual, as a way of giving a bit of a break to the church staff who have been working so hard putting these services together. Next week will be the same. After the service, we drove over to Fernald Preserve for a walk. The ponds were frozen over, except for one area of free water where a number of swans and Canada geese were congregating, a number of the geese sitting on the ice, which didn’t seem very comfortable to us! As we walked on, we were treated to the sight of the bird of prey shown in my thumbnail, which I believe may be a Northern Harrier, a winter visitor to the area, but I am open to correction. In the bottom left picture, right of the red tree, you can see a beaver dam, and just across the path there was a clump of tree stumps, all with the tell-tale beaver cut conical tops. We also saw a deer crossing the path a little way ahead of us. It was a lovely day, sunny, and quite a bit milder than the last couple of days. After lunch Laura aided by Jen and Jason continued work on the very difficult puzzle we started, while I made a chocolate bourbon pecan pie, and then got on with fixing dinner, roast pork with all the trimmings. After dinner, we drove up to Hamilton to see the Christmas light display at Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park, a wonderful drive-through display - I have added a collage in the extras
