Gloucester Square Panorama
A early morning walk to the fish shop (which proved to be abortive as it was shut) allowed me the opportunity to poke my nose into Gloucester Square (off Gloucester Lane ) and shoot this pano.
Prior to 1966 Gloucester Lane (and Square) used to be called Church Lane (and Square) as the lane (and its extension Wemyss Place) was once part of the kirk loan which led from the Parish Kirk of St Cuthberts to Stockbridge.
Extra Photo: Shot of building at top of Gloucester Lane with evidence of the old signage showing 'Church Lane'. In 1966 there was a clear out of duplicate street names in Edinburgh and Leith on basis that there was no church on this street when in fact few of these streets had same and it was merely the route to the church. Gloucester was taken from the street at the end of the lane (Gloucester Place).
