More pie
Another entry in the pie-making competition in this house. Venison and vegetable filling. Oodles of puff pastry (from the shop, naturally). And, coup de grace, a wee decoration courtesy of some spare pastry and one of Mr Alf's pastry cutters. Sadly we don't have any fancy ones, so I had to make something up. I was rather satisfied with that.
Obviously we scoffed the lot, and we are both now assuming the recovery position. Mr A was talking about having a beer, but I suspect he's now so full he can't even contemplate it.
The extra (my last one for the year!) is a peculiar photo taken on the slant, mainly for meles, who passed on the tree planting at the Quilts. The trees were planted either yesterday, or possibly very early this morning (I took the photo around 11.30am).
The snow has survived and hardened, as there was a vicious frost overnight. The pavements are mainly treacherous, so my walk over to the supermarket and then around via the post office was necessarily a bit crab like. No one wants to visit A&E right now. It snowed a bit this afternoon, and then looked as if it were going to snow a lot more, but hasn't done. Snow is forecast for tomorrow. It's all very nice, but it's a bit inconvenient, as I've had to reschedule a meet with friends that was due for tomorrow.
I was delighted to hear that the Astra Zeneca/Oxford vaccine has been approved, and was curious to see that the approach will be one full shot and then nothing for 12 weeks. This is partly because the one shot gives effective protection against serious illness, and I think the priority is to get some of it as quickly as possible into as many arms as possible so that the serious illness and death rates can be brought back under control (which they are not, especially in England). This is quite close to treating the 'vaccine' as a prophylactic treatment rather than as a classic vaccine, and I was - in loose layperson's terms - discussing precisely that point with Mr A yesterday.
