Hellebore in the sun
Not so much of an EB as an emergency rescue hellebore. This little beauty was reduced to £1 a couple of months ago in Morrisons and looked very sad. It's looking much happier today in the December sunshine and is clearly going to reward me with some more flowers too. I rather liked the way it cast a shadow behind onto the wall. What a contrast in weather from yesterday, although, to be fair, the snow is still on the ground and the paths and pavements are treacherously icy.
Thank you everybody for the comments stars and hearts for my blipday cake yesterday, very much appreciated. Blip has given me so much pleasure over the last six years and particularly throughout this year's events. I feel I have a closer circle of friends even though I have only met a few of those I interact with. One day though!
Today I did a quick sortie to M&S foodhall at Craigleith. I was surprised to find that the ground floor of the clothes section was also open with some children's and men's in addition to ladies wear.
Back in time for a quick lunch and then we waited for Eilidh and Isobel. We're looking after them today and tomorrow as both parents have clashing shifts. Eilidh arrived clutching a box with two slices of her lemon drizzle birthday cake. `Oh` said I, 'A piece for grandpa and I' . Quick as a flash Isobel says, 'Grandpa doesnt like cake so we'll share his piece!' Don't try to stand between a fout year old and cake is the motto there I think!
We had a quiet afternoon, playing Ampney other things, Floundering and Flying Hats, both games of my childhood, I'm saving baking and outings till tomorrow. For a treat we had fish fingers, beans and chip shop chips for tea. They were so excited.
On our way back to their house, we went for a tour of some of the more vibrant Christmas decorations in the area. They're keen to find some more tomorrow. It's 10pm now and I'm in Kathryn's house now, wearing my mask waiting to be relieved so I can head home and get ready for their visit tomorrow. They arrive just before 8am so it's a long day for them. I think coconut pyramids are on the agenda!
Stay safe and well everybody, some very mixed messages coming out about Covid just now. It sounds like the next round of vaccine is ready to go though.
I'm rather worried about a friend in India who I've not been able to contact and who has not been on line since 21st December. Distance makes things very difficult.
