Abstract Thursday: Pseudo-Fireworks

Ingeborg's very-optional theme for the last Abstract Thursday of 2020 is "fireworks".

Well, Covid has out paid to most of the firework displays around here. However this morning I saw that Jack Frost had painted some feathery streaks of frost on the garage windows so I thought I might be able to use a shot of them to create some pseudo-fireworks. Then my Editor made the excellent suggestion that I could photograph the Christmas tree lights to use to make some pretty starbursts. A little Rather too much time spent messing in Photoshop produced this result.

I have one extra left this year so you're treated to our Christmas cake which we've not yet cut into (too much else to eat!). It's a family tradition that when our lads come home for Christmas they decorate the cake with Playmobil characters: very often the scenes they produce contain only a passing reference to the season (see the extra here for last year's cake!) Well this year my Editor decided to splash out on some special new Christmas figures (when they were on special offer of course), and we only had one son able to visit on the day, so this is his solo creation. Sadly it seems that Santa consumed a little too much Christmas spirit, drove his sleigh off the edge of a snowdrift (maybe Rudolph was tipsy too?) and knocked a child clean off their sledge (you can see only their wellies sticking out of the snow). St Nicholas himself was looking on, no doubt with some dismay about the behaviour of his almost name-sake. Such is life in 2020!

All the very best to all blippers for 2021, regardless of whether you're already in the New Year as I write this or, like us, still have a few hours of the awful 2020 to endure! :-))
