Highly Unsprung

Beyond excited to hold this beauty in my hands today. Kerry's lass found the handle on a north east beach, then the other two bits the next day. What's the chances? Experts suggest its medieval and it's soon heading off to be carbon dated. It looked and felt amazing, a pottery shard hunter's dream.

What was it? Who made it? Who used it? How did it break? How old is it?

It was hilarious to nerd out on mutual excitement with Kerry, aka CeramiKer Pottery. How brilliant that it found its way back from being lost for centuries straight into the hands of such an extremely talented modern day potter who knew it was special.

Thanks to Kerry for letting me have a socially distanced opportunity to hold it while she braved the cold and for gifting me an amazing CeramiKer bowl and cup.

And now it's Hogmanay and it's a quiet but safe one, but I know it will be weighing heavy on many hearts this year, particularly those who have been bereaved or have lost jobs or their whole way of life.

It's also Brexit day, which is all kinds of shite. I'm looking forward to becoming a European Union member again in an Independent Scotland.
