Happy New Year
This was a very strange New Years Day for me.
First one ever without a big family meal for the 1st of Jan. Being Scottish, New Year's day is almost generally a repeat of Christmas day but without the presents. Unfortunately with Covid and living in Tier 4 family and friends can't join us and we can't be home in Scotland.
It is what it is and we just need to crack on so we do.
Instead today was a slow start then up and out with phoebe to the park. On the way home we ran into one of the other puppies she hasn't seen since Summertime and the lighter nights and they were really enjoying playing with one another while I and Luna's owner tried carefully to make sure they didn't play their way into the canal. An older lady passed and she was so angry at us and snapped for us to "let her pass".
Couple of things
1 - passing people in a matter of seconds outside is not known to be fertile ground for transmission
2 - we have 2 excited puppies who we can't reason with but we can get under control if you bear with us and don't add to our stress
3 - you don't know that I have been basically no-where in the past year and have a partner who is shielding and am, myself on the risk of moderate illness due to being on immunosuppressants so we are being careful and finally
4 - the world is a shitty enough place - be patient and kind as you don't know what people are dealing with when you snap at them impatiently.
After my walk with Pheobs I dropped the mucky pup off and headed out for week 2 of count to 5k. Until the MSc and until COVID I was running parkrun every week and then managed to keep up running up until the pup arrived - trying to get back on the wagon.
The rest of the day felt like a normal Sunday - except we did have cheeky prosecco with salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast and I did a nice roast beef which went down well.
Now we are settling into an evening in front of the TV watching His Dark Materials and playing with the savage beast that is Phoebe (her instagram acocunt is @phoebe_goddess_of_cuteness to see how savage she is!).
Here she is caught in a moment of a nice scratch under the chin. Love her lots.
