Was -2 when we woke up, grass white with  frost. Bright bright sun.

Not tempted to brave the cold.  Clouded over later, and milder. So pulled myself together, put on a few layers,  and we went to see the goats.

Made a Persian rice and LENTIL dish for dinner, at the behest of 2 friends (‘Crispin’ and a non-blipper).  A New Year’s Day tradition in Hungary and Italy, supposedly augurs a prosperous year. So if, and when I win the lottery you are all treated to fizz.

Nothing on local TV (for me anyway).  Instead I’m switching between French, German and Chilean news. All discussing the effects of Brexit in far more depth than here.  Whereas our channels feature endless reports on lorries at Dover* (*quiet today), and and interviews with the first lorry drivers arriving post Brexit.

Covid figures are shameful here. 50,000+ per day. No comment.  Just hearing London primary schools are now to stay closed at the beginning of the new term.

Hope they can speed up these vaccines, and they make a difference.
