Daddy's Girl

Mid-afternoon walk along Middlefield Lane towards the barn conversion and then across to Moss Lane and back home.
The weather not really doing anything after a light snow shower at lunchtime, just dull, chilly, and a certain dampness in the air. It hadn't thawed that much after the overnight frost and most puddles were still iced over.
Along Middlefield we bumped into Ollie and his daughter and stopped for a new year chat. The little one was looking very suspiciously at us and was keen to get on so we bid farewell and continued on.
A few birds seen including a swarm of long tailed tits accompanying us for fifty or so yards before leaving and then their cousins the blue tit family put in an appearance before robin redbreast posed on a fence post. Some fieldfares and redwings too before a kestrel settled onto the overhead wires above us and then swooped down and away as we got too near.
Toasted teacakes and a pot of tea once we were back in the house and then the fire was lit as the light faded.
