River Bain.

Horncastle has two rivers which run through the town. Both have been canalised In the early nineteenth century to mainly transport coal into the town and export wool to the midlands. The canal only lasted about thirty years being replaced by a railway line. Around the town are several warehouses remaining from heyday of the canal.
