This is Lady Blanche MacDonnell, wife of the 6th Governor of South Australia.  I have become very interested in her but she is somewhat of a shadowy figure, as were all Colonial wives of the era I suspect. She must have been quite a goer.  The was the first women to climb down into the volcano Lake Crater in Mt. Gambier, and she also went down a copper mine in Kapunda.
