Eye
Down in London for a few days for half-term - and staying at the Youth Hostel at St. Paul's again; the logic being that what we save on hotel bills we can spend, via EAT and Pret, on keeping the kids happy with food whilst we sneak a bit of culture past them. We did the Cathedral first, even though the top of the dome (above the level of the Whispering Gallery) is closed at the moment. This was probably just as well, since it's a long time since Beck and I, pre-kids, climbed it (roughly coincidental to the time they started charging people to get in - don't get me started on that one...!) and, frankly, just the lower flights turned out to be enough of a strain on the thighs for me! Then we walked along the Southbank to the London Eye, which was much cooler than I remembered, up to Covent Garden and along the Strand and Fleet Street, to a large, well-earned bowl of pasta just a stumble away from bed!
