Light Fall Off

This morning Gavin and Luke played a round of golf. Adam was also meant to play this morning but yesterday the boys all had a golf lesson and Adam has overdone the golf a bit and as his back was sore he did not want to risk injuring it further. Since he had two herniated discs last year he has to be very careful with his back.

Today I took the Christmas tree and decorations down, it always requires much cleaning up afterwards when you use a real tree as the needles are very dry by this stage and they drop off easily. Gavin then cut it up to place in the garden refuse bin which will be collected by the council.

Gavin kindly sat for me as I needed some more photos for my camera group homework, as one of the topics was the fall off of light - when the light source is close to the subject the light only falls on a small area of the face, and as you move the light further away you get more light falling all over the subject so that in this case it reaches the back of the head - this image was an example of the light source being very close to the subject with the back of the head being in shadow.

The Covid cases are reaching alarming levels in the UK. The number of people in England in hospital with Covid cases increased by 33% between Christmas Day and 2 January, and cases rose by 50% and 46% in London and the South East respectively. The Tier system of lockdown is clearly not working as well as it should be, which is evidenced by all the people you see out and about with no regard for social spacing or for sticking to the rules of not mixing with other people. You would think that with the vaccination program underway and consequently a way out of these pandemic conditions, people could just hang in there for a little longer and try harder, but sadly that is not happening.
