Farewell Faithful Friend

In 'normal' times I would have been on the Isle of Wight, riding the last of a dwindling class of former Underground trains dating back to 1938. BR brought from from London Underground in 1988 and following conversion, they have been running on the Island Line for the past 30 odd years. Today is their last day in service. Tonight the line closes for an extended period to allow upgrade works for a new generation of former Underground Trains the Vivarail Class 484 trains

I spent several days back in March 2016 proving the concept would work, the picture was taken at Shanklin during this time.
