Against All Adversity

The tiny viola plants that I planted in the autumn have been protected by sprigs of pine. I protect all my flowers like this in the winter.

Imagine my delight this morning, to see a little yellow face appear through a small opening in those protective branches!  The temperature is only 1C (33.8F) and there's an icy wind blowing.
