Lockdown is back.
Sheet ice here on pavements and the minor roads. A very slight thaw yesterday froze hard overnight. We went for a local walk - but quickly diverted to walk a short bit of the Roman Wall....on the grass.
Watched politics. Scottish Parliament recalled for Emergency Statement (only rose just before Christmas) and tough new Coronavirus Restrictions confirmed by the First Minister; in reality a 2nd Lockdown which comes into effect at midnight. Schools closed until at least 1 February (already online return); essentially legal “stay at home” requirement - unless meet essential tests or exemptions. First Minister’s announcement and Q&A was 100 minutes. No doubt there’ll be shouting in the Scottish media. U.K. government dither and delay and finally make own announcement. 58,784 new cases in U.K.; 1905 (50% are new variant) in Scotland. And hundreds more deaths in England. Media reporting now of U.K. vaccine supply issues and plans for vaccinations - before even off to proper start (not that long ago were told by Alok Sharma MP millions of doses available etc). It feels so frustrating waiting on supply when vaccinators are available in Scotland.
We went to collect some food shopping from our older son and fiancé late afternoon. Cold chat outside. And had a few minutes with younger son on the way.
