Fleeting Form
At last the sun shows its face, if only for a fleeting moment. But, the difference it makes to snow scenes is quite dramatic. All of a sudden forms in the terrain reveal themselves as light and shade describe their roundness and lengthy cast shadows undulate over the landscape.
The twin challenges I find with snow are highlights and colour. In the brightest areas it's tough to show detail without losing the requisite intensity. And there is so much bounced light flying around, reflecting the sky and trees, finding a happy balance can be tricky.
