Nourish & Flourish

The last day before we return to work and, with so many places closed, a nice 9 mile walk to - and around - Southfields seemed like a good idea. An interesting suburban area transformed from fields to housing once London's District Line railway arrived this far out of there city in the late 1800s. 1766 houses were built in the so-called Southfields grid and no pubs until the late 1990s (the land was owned by members of the temperance movement). The area is the location of London's first mosque, which is a beautiful building. Also of note - and my favourite we came across - the former Frame Foods factory in the Arts and Crafts style with the most beautiful green and white glazed bricks. No longer a factory but a block of flats.
