Tomatoes in the Sunlight
Haven't taken my slippers off all day, and yet hard to choose just one bit of beauty to show you, this is Mike's choice. Not homegrown, but smelt good and quite fancied some, not bought any since ours finished.
Mike's been installing the pellet burner, and been into town for yet another dental visit, picking up some Christmas cards, which have started to arrive, four today. I waited for the sun to shine (this afternoon) to wash the clothes (for the electricity), and hung them out, freezing my fingers in the process; they're now finishing off above the wood burner. Down to below zero again tonight; the weather app now says 0% chance of snow, instead of rain.
Carina, from our group of Amigos, has tested positive for the virus - so far, only a loss of smell, but they're all having to isolate. No risk to us, haven't seen them in ages.
In case you're feeling down with all the restrictions and political shenanigans, here are 112 bits of good news from 2020.
Gratefuls:
- riveting writing - finished Zion's gift to me (his secret friend), the second of Ferrante's Neapolitan novels, The Story of a New Name, though it kept me up far too late... will have to choose something more boring for tonight! Heck, can that woman write, no way is she actually a man, as some suggest, way too searingly honest about women's deepest feelings
- being fairly warm all day, still have memories of the cold we endured in our first two years here, in accomodation we couldn't heat adequately
- olive leaf and orange peel infusion - smells wonderful and good for the immune system, plus we have no shortage of either
