Quite a day
Well that was quite a day, after, well, quite a night. A storm was forecast. A storm we got. Raging most of the early hours, sheet lightning that flooded the night sky, thunderclaps directly overhead that boomed and roared like the Almighty, and hail like ice cubes (as seen in my blip today of Graham holding one, several hours later in early afternoon, mid melt). The storm has caused noticeable damage - every single outdoor light is broken (extra) and the ground is covered in paint flakes from hail attack, or beds of hail stones (extra). Out caretaker said that he hasn't seen anything like it for more than 15 years. At least, I think that's what he said.
Walking around the complex with Graham, taking pics of the damage, (we are both on the management committee and will report to all neighbour owners). We then visited our neighboring complex across the road for damage comparison, and heard a cat crying, trapped inside the storage depot. Successfully releasing this terrified feral pusscat, who we realized has been trapped there for many days, occupied much of the rest of our afternoon, but this evening he (now named Nelson) is quietly sleeping with a full tummy in a cushion lined cardboard box on my enclosed front porch, alongside a bowl of food and water should further sustenance be needed. Tomorrow I will either let him out or take him to the vet, depending on how he seems to be.
Regardless of last night's storm, today was amazingly, astonishingly, warm and sunny, so, as it is Robin's last day before she returns to Azerbaijan tomorrow after a lovely two weeks together, we enjoyed a leisurely stroll along the local beach (extra) before a supermarket dash for foodstuffs that she can't get in Baku.
After dinner, we spent a while with Graham and Kat, and now, back home, Robin finishes her packing as I write this.
It was quite a day.
