Brambling

The bird feeders in our garden were spectacularly busy this morning. In just a few minutes I saw goldfinches, siskins, chaffinches, greenfinches, great tits, blue tits, a linnet and a nuthatch.

Most pleasing of all was this brambling. I had never seen a brambling until last April when one appeared and stayed around for a couple of weeks. I hoped it would return this year, and sure enough here it is.

What a shame the garden wasn't busy like this when we did the RSPB birdwatch a few weeks ago.
