Harlequin Duck

This was a new duck for me.  I have never seen one before and was fascinated by how striking they are.  

We took our granddaughter to the north end of this very long barrier island to see the Barnegat Lighthouse.  We spent a bit of time by the inlet where I saw these ducks.  Finally, the cold sent us home as there was no sun and there was a significant wind chill next to the water.
