Waiting For Peanuts

This is the area right behind where I park my car. The crows stake it out knowing I have a bag of peanuts for them.  I throw a handful out whenever I see them waiting and I swear they know me and my car and will wait patiently until I toss the peanuts.  There's a squirrel who's caught on to this action so I include him as well.

I went to the hand specialist this morning because arthritis in my right hand has gotten much worse in the past couple of months.  It was so bad Monday that I called for an appointment and then spent the day trying to see if I could manage life without using my right hand.  The answer was "no".   Anyway, I got a cortisone shot in my middle finger which I hope will help.  My doctor is a real sweetie and I like him a lot even though I have socks older than he is.  He told me that I need to have a joint replaced which was not a surprise, but we're both hoping the shot will buy me some time since I failed the no-right-hand test.  All kinds of problems to solve there.

Then, I spent a good chunk of the day watching the news and the shameful and humiliating events unfolding at our nation's capitol.  I can't imagine what other countries must think of us.  I was horrified but all any of us can do is hope and pray that nothing worse happens before we can inaugurate our new President.
