Goodbye to a beautiful Hornbeam

This tree is just over the road from my house and I’ve watched its decline over the past few years. Last year it had very few leaves and dead branches kept falling on to the road. Today it was cut down. The men arrived at 8am and by 12 o’clock just the stump was left and I don’t know if they are leaving it like this or not. Always sad to see a beautiful tree cut down but it had reached the end of its life and I shall miss it. A beautiful sunny day after a cloudy, frosty start.
