Suddenly, they're back

When we left to go on holiday 10 days ago, our glorious tree ferns were just a memory, scorched to the stump by extreme summer temperatures. Heavy rains in our absence have brought them springing skywards, making up for the loss of a 15-metre shade tree in the courtyard, blown over by high winds on Saturday night. It fell very close to a neighbour's house, but thankfully no damage was done.
