Just sorting stuff...
We began with a chat with a lady from the legal company dealing with our probate application process. Hopefully it will go smoothly.
Then we drove over to Church Langley to pay our amazing florist, and to say a socially distanced hello.
The afternoon was spent in the front spare bedroom trying to sort things so that the drawers and cupboards were tidier. Dad liked to keep things. Well, everything actually. He had a little bit of everything, everywhere. Another of his hobbies, following on from yesterday, was his love of cameras, beginning with old still camera, (which was stolen many years later from the back seat of the car when he was in the front, I think in Spain) and a cine standard 8 camera, moving on to a super 8 cine camera, then many different video cameras, with all different sized cassette films. Consequently there are cine films, small and large video cassettes and slides, together with mountains of photographs. Oh, and did I mention the old reel to reel tapes? Those too! And just for luck, a handful of TDK cassette tapes.
We managed to collate each type of film or sound recording, the pack them away together. The wardrobe now has the photos in it, and one of the (15 at last count) suitcases holds the cine stuff. Cassettes in respective drawers and the ancient slide projector back to the lift together with reel to reel tapes. It took us HOURS! We did have a spell in the loft too. It is also in need of a lot of sorting. In an old carry cot, that I once had for Daniel, but which now has a motorcycle tank in it, I discovered this beautiful wedding veil tucked underneath the tank in a plastic bag. It belonged to my nanna, so is now approaching 94 years old. I couldn't leave it, so we brought it downstairs and it is now in the lounge acclimatising. Then mum will put it in her glass cabinet.
I've packed up my bags as I need to leave early, at least by 9 in the morning. I seem to have rather a lot of stuff.
