Lightning Tree

On the eastern side of the Baskett Slough Refuge, there's this tree, or what's left of it. It's a Douglas fir with its top blown out by lightning, and it's right beside the road. Every time we pass it, on those evenings we check out the refuge, one of us has to ask, "What is that tree?," and the other grins and says, "That's the lightning tree!"
