Sun

We woke (rather late) to a much better day than recently - sunshine!  Shortly after getting my morning coffee, I fielded a message from the younger daughter, looking for medical advice from her personal (retired) doctor!  She said they had sun for the first time in ages, and she was heading out for a walk.

This stimulated me to suggest that we did the same.

So at about 1230, after a very leisurely breakfast, we headed out.  We decided to mainly stick to roads, as the last couple of times we had been out we had found the paths very wet and muddy.  Not that the roads were without hazard.  No snow here, but still pretty cold, and even though it was already the middle of the day, shortly after leaving the house we found black ice on the road.

There were lots of other people who had clearly also decided that the roads were a better option than the paths.  We also met a number of cyclists - I thought they were quite brave, given the black ice around.

We did a circular route that did involve some paths on the return leg, and inevitably found deep wet mud that it was impossible to get around.  We got home with wet feet.  We only did about 5km, but it was enough to relieve the "stir craziness" for another few days.  I'm glad we went out today, the weather isn't looking so promising for the next few days.

On returning to the house, W spent a couple of hours in the workshop, and I did some flute practice - I've been neglecting the flute recently, it's time to pick it up again and work hard.  And then W cooked us a rather nice risotto with Jerusalem artichokes.
