Cuchulainn
After a great sleep and a nice breakfast, we headed of to visit Kate (my mom's cousin) she is sadly in a nursing home, after suffering many strokes. It was lovely to see her and very emotional.
Later we met with Michael and had a fabulous lunch at Cornacopians. A vegetarian/Vegan restaurant.
No visit to Dublin is ever complete without going to The GPO on O'Connell Street. A large bronze statue of the legendary Cuchulainn us a memorial to the participants of the 1916 Rising.
The legend relates that when mortallywounded in battle, Cuchulainn tied himself to a pillar so that he might face his ememies, even in death. Only when a raven perched on his shoulder did they dare approach.
We had a small version of the statue in our family home.
