Pink Snowberry
The hard rime ice this morning was the most amazing I have seen. The dense fog freezes on plants in a breeze at lower than -2ºC, and the ice forms on the windward side, which looks really weird. The main photo is a pretty pink snowberry. The first extra gives 4 more examples - dogwood, hazel catkins and 2 twigs, to show how the ice forms in spikes on one side. The second extra is a mature beech that couldn't take the weight - the whole trunk has twisted and fallen. And the third extra is the silver birch looking even more silver than usual.
