In the bleak midwinter

I’m increasingly forming the view that given the difficult circumstances of an almost unbroken 9 month lockdown, and the genuinely terrible news of the current rates of death and infections, newspapers and TV getting different ‘experts’ on to speculate on how things may play out isn’t actually helpful.

Growing mental health issues are hardly helped by having one person confidently say that everything will be back to normal by Easter,, closely followed by someone else saying that next winter could be almost as bad, we don’t know how long immunity from the vaccine might last, and new variants might not be covered.

Maybe just focussing on established facts, and avoiding pure speculation, with ‘worst case’ possibilities being presented with no indication of how likely they might be, would be a real public service.
