A late start on a lazy Sunday! Though I did make a big pan of French lentil soup to go in the freezer for lunches over the next couple of weeks.
MrM had a slightly disconcerting conversation with his dad today. MrM Senior has had his invitation for a Covid vaccination, but is refusing it because he can "remember thalidomide". But he doesn't remember, or probably never knew, that thalidomide was never properly tested before being prescribed to pregnant women. How to persuade a very obstinate 88-year-old?!
Huge rise in temperature overnight, and by this morning the snow had all but disappeared, apart from the inevitable piles of mucky melting snow/ice long the kerbs. The pavements are just about clear of ice, and I walked down by the river this afternoon while MrM went for a bike ride. Passed the 'antiques and curios' shop - it hasn't been open for a good while, and when it was open was a place where you had to be careful where you walked, and a hard-hat would have been useful! The floors were decidedly dodgy, and there were things for sale on every possible surface, some balanced on top of others very precariously! But they sold some interesting items...
