Parked
This old car is in the woods back off the Dix Point Road. We lived off that road when my daughter was born, and for the first three years of her childhood. When we took her for walks in the stroller we would often pass by and see this car. My daughter was born in that house, and Hunka was still with us then, so anything which reminds us of the place has a special poignancy. Even an old beat up car in the woods. When I showed the photo to my wife she said it instantly brought back strong memories.

Monkey and Sun, a Fable: Part II (of III)
The next morning Monkey got up very early, waking up his wife, who mumbled a bit about needing some rest before going to work. He drove out to where the snow-covered mountain was. It was very dark and very cold. He got all ready to take breathtaking photos. “Ok Sun,” he called. “I’m ready.” But Sun did not answer. She was still sleeping. Eventually Monkey got a bit bored, so he started taking some photos in the dark. But they were not very good.
Meanwhile, Sun started to roll around in bed and wake up. She opened her eyes, yawned and stretched her arms out. “Aha,” thought Monkey. “Here she comes!” He started taking some more pictures. Again the snow on the mountain looked neat, but his photos? They were rather unremarkable. Monkey grew frustrated. He took some more pictures. He began to feel cold. But Sun was feeling cozy. She turned over in bed and thought about going back to sleep. After all, it was the weekend and she was in no hurry to get up. Monkey took even more pictures, but mostly he got even more cold. “I’m very upset with you Sun!” he called out. “You are still not cooperating!” But Sun did not reply.
Finally Monkey decided to pack up his things and take pictures somewhere else. After all, there were many places where Sun would shine on things, and walking around would warm him up. He walked along through the woods feeling rather grumpy about Sun. She, of course, was not thinking about Monkey at all. She climbed out of bed and starting to grind up some beans for a cup of coffee. Through the trees Monkey could see her starting to shine on the mountain he had just been pointing his device at. The mountain looked incredibly amazing! “Oh no!” cried Monkey. “Now there are too many trees in the way to take a picture with my device!” He shook his fist in anger at Sun as he walked along.
