Sunday
We woke this morning to a hard frost, but blue sky and sunshine. After breakfast, and watching our church’s online service, we bundled up in warm clothes, and drove over to Sharon Woods for a walk. We parked near the gorge for a change, and walked through the gorge, and on beside the stream to the visitor centre. My photos were taken along this stretch, which passes several little waterfalls. We then retraced our steps, and walked the trail around the lake, which is now covered in ice. There were quite a few people out enjoying the sunshine, many, if not most with dogs - we felt quite out of place! Not long after we got back home, our daughter Jen called, and we enjoyed a good long chat. She works as a nurse and received her first Covid vaccine shot about 10 days before Christmas, and she gets the second dose this coming Thursday. She did contract Covid back in September, so between that and the vaccine, she should hopefully be pretty well protected now. According to our states guidelines, we should be eligible to get ours starting February 8th, but we’ll see how that plays out in practice.
After that, Roger got going on a new little project for me - making a strip to hang utensils from between the oven and the oven hood. I currently have a metal strip with six hooks, that I’ve had for decades, but it’s not really long enough - I want to be able to hang several more things up. I’ve looked online, but haven’t found anything that will fit the limited height requirement, many of them having hooks that hang down from the strip, rather than hanging things from the strip itself. So Roger said he would make one for me from wood, and then stain it. After that, he has a bigger project of replacing the kitchen sink and tap! It’s a blessing having a handy husband!
