Breda -- Mastbosch

These woods, which are called the Mastbosch, are named after all the fir trees in it, although those are not the only trees you'll find here. You might now have an idea where the English word 'mast' (as in the 'mast of a ship') comes from. 'Bosch', where you get the English word 'bush', means 'woods' or 'forest'. But! ... enough linguistics for now (one of my favourite subjects, btw)!

Grey day again, and what else is new? That is actually the reason I didn't go inside the woods; that, and the biting cold. A nagging suspicion that it will go on this way for weeks yet, which wouldn't surprise me one bit. Blipping takes away the winter blues, somewhat. Spring break but with this weather I have to find a good excuse not to stay home and feel down.
