Fieldfare

Balcony windows wide open, tripod half in and half outside, cold rapidly travelling through the house and I was shivering. Out fieldfare was on the berries again and blip opps being short if non-existent this all seemed like a good idea. 

I think honestly it was all a step too far and even with various extenders on the lens it never seemed to be quite right. Every time I clicked the shutter he could hear it even at that distance so I had to see this through sharpish before he flew. 

Sparse pickings today. 

One thing that has surprised me yesterday was a fox on our security cam. You don't get a sense of scale but yesterdays tree trunk moving meant I could nab a slice for the fox photo area. Covering it in dog food, hedgehog food and a large brown egg placed strategically near it  - I watched. 

In he duly came and was having to stretch his neck up the trunk to get at the lowest food. Measuring the height just now this must have been a cub. Great to see and I need to get outside  and re-erect my hide but it's cold with the ground totally waterlogged.
