S61N

Very dull boring and unproductive day - so after the photo of the 6th Jan, I thought I'd punt this one up - the Sikorsky S61N. It was the civilian version of the Sea King and I converted on to  it after the Robbo. What a difference. The Robbo is shorter than the length of one of the 61's blades!

She was a fantastic aircraft to fly. The lower part was shaped like a boat's hull, and it was designed to actually land on water, then take off again. This was carried out regularly at the Loch of Skene near Dyce in Aberdeen.

It had no particular vices and was just a great big steady reliable aircraft that punched through the North Sea weather day in, day out.

So many good times were had. So many great chaps!
