Coronation Hall....now a pub!
L3 Day 24 An interesting buildings from yesterday In Surbiton. The Coronation Hall was opened as a lecture theatre seating over 800 people, the day before the coronation of King George V in 1911. Later it became the Roxy cinema in 1947 and then the Ritz. It became a Bingo Hall in the 1960’s. It is now a Weatherspoons pub and from their website it looks like many aspects of the interior have been preserved, so maybe worth a visit if/ when it reopens! I was interested to see that the Weatherspoons website gives lots of information about many of the buildings that have been converted into pubs, and also about people who have been associated with the area.
